Nangiles adit 1. Area: A6i © Adam Sharpe This adit or drainage tunnel is an early post medieval example of the ‘coffin’ variety, so called due to its coffin-like shape; the ‘shoulders’ at the base enabled bridging timbers to be placed across to facilitate access over the running water.
